Application Virtualization

Application virtualization is software technology that encapsulates computer programs from the underlying operating system on which it is executed. The application behaves at runtime as if it is directly interfacing with the original operating system and all the resources managed by it, but it can still be isolated or sandboxed to varying degrees. Application virtualization also separates application programs from an OS with which it has conflicts and allows incompatible applications to run on a local machine simultaneously.
